One of the most visible student organizations on the campus of Carterville High School is the Carterville High School Pride of the Lions Marching Band. This year the band consists of approximately 69 students. The band is lead on the field by drum majors Bailey Morgan and Austin Behrens. At the end of July, the band goes through a two-week band camp, where they learn their marching show for the upcoming fall season. They perform the show during halftime at home football games and at major competitions in the Southern Illinois, Central Illinois, and Southeast Missouri area. Every other year the band does a trip during spring break. Previous spring trip performances include Nashville, Tennessee, and the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.
The band has a previous history as the Carterville High School Marching Lions. During the summer of 2014 the band changed their name to the Pride of the Lions Marching Band. Their fall 2016 production is entitled “The Crescent City!” For more information on this year’s show and previous seasons, please click on the Productions link found within the Our Program section of this website.
